Personal Cooling
On personal cooling applications to control body temperature, the outlet hose is placed as close as possible to the person. For example, a race car driver can easily attach the hose to a helmet and benefit from the direct air velocity to keep cool and prevent driver fatigue. It has been proven that the precise direct force of the air will quickly evaporate body moisture and cool better than a conventional axial or radial fan. Typical applications include military, motor sport, medical, welding, sandblasting, painting, etc.
Cabinet Cooling
The THERMAL STAR® MICRO is also ideal to cool cabinet electronics. By using the air flow from the extended duct, trouble spots can be easily cooled. If there is an air conditioning source, the fan assembly can draw in the cold air and discharge it where it is needed. Ideal for IT service people to fix trouble spots that are affected by heat.
The THERMAL STAR® MICRO can also be used for spot cooling on other types of applications. It can be used to cool turbochargers, calipers, electronics, or other components that need to be cool, but have a limited space for a traditional fan installation. Another application is to maintain the year-round temperature level of diesel fuel, which directly effects emissions and engine performance. This can be accomplished by installing the THERMAL STAR® MICRO in a vehicle's cab compartment, so that it has access to the climate control air produced by the heating and air conditioning system. Using ductwork, the hot or cold cab air is then passed to a remote mounted fuel heat exchanger located in the engine compartment. A constant fuel temperature level is maintained since the system does not use ambient air.
