ELECTRIC FAN ENGINEERING (EFE) has developed a patented compact brush holder assembly that will improve performance, efficiency, and life expectancy of electric appliances.
By today's standards, brush holder technology may be considered obsolete since it often does not meet the performance demands for long-life electric motors and other types of electrical machines. EFE's new design will not only meet this goal, but will also give brush-type motor manufacturers the advantage in challenging the features of brushless units.
The design improves commutation because it will allow a constant force spring to swivel and pivot so that it can self adjust to centrifugal, axial, radial, thrust, and recoil loading of the brush as it moves against the commutator. The design also controls each spring's memory characteristics so that the tension of each brush spring is uniform and identical. Such precise movement is critical in optimizing commutator filming and maintaining brush temperature, both of which are important factors to be considered in motor name plate ratings.
Brush holder assemblies are available with or without brushes, and can be customized to various configurations by adjusting the holder size and spring tension.
